When a late evening fire in an Illchester sub-station caused substantial damage to appliances in 235 properties, Scottish & Southern Energy were concerned that their customers should suffer the least possible inconvenience - a concern that we at HASTE shared.

Thankfully our mobile workshops are fully equipped to deal with repairs on-site day, or night.

An immediate distribution of calling cards began (it was too late in the evening to disturb residents) and the next morning the clear up operation began. Over 680 appliances were identified as damaged, brought to the mobile workshop for further investigation, and either repaired there and then or sent on to our local workshops. Within five days the entire operation was complete - partly because HASTE had repaired 80% of the appliances - a far faster and more cost-effective solution than replacement.

HASTE’s ability to carry out on-the-spot, same-day repairs is a critical part of our customer care philosophy - as being able to return an appliance within hours rather than days speaks volumes for any DNO’s efficiency.

And because our mobile workshops also mean that fuel, as a well as time, is saved the operation is significantly more cost effective – and has less impact on the environment.
